Diary 4/22/13

At least the planet gets one day! Happy Earth Day to all. Out to close greenhouses and turn off waters is a nature show this time of year.  I interrupted to herds of deer, watched a pileated woodpecker working on what I think will be a cavity nest, saw a hawk take off and several swallows, finches, and some smallish striped headed ground bird that I didn't recognize.  Last night there were 17 deer together.  I have to say I have never seen that many black-tailed deer together.  Two woodpeckers were on the dead pine last night, same place, tearing a hole.
Hard to see, but that's him(or her) on the left side.

Peek-A-Boo
... that is why I had my camera tonight!
